Four-letter words

 

Floods, rainbows and parameters are quickly back-burnered in mankind’s desire to progress.  If they had had four-letter words they would have used them, along with the two-fingered gesture to God.  “Let’s build a great city with a tower that reaches to the skies – a monument to our greatness!  This will bring us together and keep us from scattering all over the world.”  (Genesis 11:4)  But they get more than they bargained for – “‘Come, let’s go down and give them different languages.  Then they won’t be able to understand each other.’ In that way the Lord scattered them all over the earth; and that ended the building of the city.” (Genesis 11:7-8)

Easy to tut tut at others, isn’t it?

But we’re all good at saying to hell with God; Frank Sinatra’s famous words say it all, for all generations –

“For what is a man what has he got
If not himself then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels…”

So, it’s “My Way” all the way, unless…
