God talk

10 02 2011

God’s been speaking a lot recently…or so it says in the parts of the Bible I’ve been reading.  Here are some examples –

  • In creation – God said… and it was (Genesis 1:3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 20, 24, 26, 28, 29)
  • To Adam – God lays down parameters for healthy living (Genesis 2:15, 19) and a gracious invitation to a relationship with him (Genesis 3:9)
  • To Jesus –  A voice came from heaven, “You are my son whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” (Luke 3:22)
  • To David – The Lord said,  “You shall shepherd my people Israel, and you shall become their ruler.” (2 Samuel 5:2)
  • To Nathan – A message for David – “The Lord said to Nathan…” (2 Samuel 7:4)

I wonder…

How did they recognise the voice of God?

Does God still speak?  How do we know?
